October 7, 2009 (Woodstock, CT) - The Dan Duquette Sports Academy in Hinsdale, MA and Rogers Corporation are happy to announce their partnership that brings the state-of the-art training facility and PORON® XRD™ Extreme Impact Protection Material together.
The Sports Academy, in operation since 2003, is a training center that offers a well-rounded curriculum to teach student athletes (boys and girls ages 8-18) baseball and softball skills that will help them win, both on and off the playing field. Instructors range from an elite group of youth, high school, NCAA and MLB coaches. Athletes can choose from day to week long camps with weekend tournaments running from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.
“PORON XRD technology is quickly taking off in the baseball and softball markets and partnering up with the Academy is a perfect fit for Rogers Corporation and the PORON Cushioning brand,” states Nicole Perry, Product Manager for Rogers’ High Performance Foams Division. “The partnership allows us to support a focused, elite group of young athletes as well as educate camp participants on the most advanced protective padding solutions available.”
PORON XRD Extreme Impact Protection offers athletes a new alternative to stiff, rigid, and uncomfortable protective pads. Manufactured by Rogers Corporation’s High Performance Foams Division, PORON XRD protection is a lightweight, breathable, multiple impact foam that’s being used in a variety of protective sports equipment. Soft and non-confining when at rest or worn against the body, PORON XRD technology forms a protective shell around the athlete upon sudden impact. Additionally, PORON XRD foam does not break down like other materials, so wearers can trust that their PORON XRD pads will maintain the same performance hit after hit.
Dan Duquette, Founding Partner of the Academy and a seasoned baseball executive with over 20 years experience with the Milwaukee Brewers, Montreal Expos, and General Manager of the Boston Red Sox says, “Bringing Rogers Corporation and PORON Cushioning on board has been great for the facility. They bring a great product, tremendous enthusiasm to our family, and we're looking forward to a long relationship together.”
As part of the partnership, the PORON team will award product to MVP’s of tournaments and clinics. In addition, the PORON XRD web site will feature highlights, photos, and camp MVP bios until the end of the season which will be, according to Dan and his staff, “we’re throwin ‘til it starts snowin!!!”
